The mobile scanner was awarded the Consumer Product of the Year award from the Colorado Inventor Showcase on November 2, 2009 in recognition of exceptional ingenuity, creative genius, and product development skills. The winners were chosen by a cast of over sixty celebrity judges representing the media, venture capital, high profile business, and academia. Entries were evaluated based on their innovation, novelty, and value to society.
Established in January 2010 and based in Fort Collins, Colorado, Couragent, Inc. is a highly innovative, customer-focused product development and Go-to-Market enterprise that delivers patented solutions to common problems with electronic equipment that is simple to use and offers a unique combination of benefits.
The core team began focused development of the mission, vision, strategy and foundational values in April 2009. Intellectual property, core market research, and technical feasibility were researched during May to June 2009. Substantive negotiations with the Supplier were initiated in August 2009. The first provisional patent was issued in October 2009. Multi-city customer focus group research were completed in February of 2010. The prototype mobile scanner was awarded the Consumer Product of the Year at the Colorado Inventors Showcase on November 3, 2009. An exclusive licensing agreement has been reached for the Supplier's two US patents. An additional patent has been published by the International Searching Authority of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) with all 52 claims meeting the criteria for patentability.
The Flip-Pal mobile scanner was introduced at the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) trade show on July 24, 2009. Flip-Pal was awarded the Innovation Product of the Year at that event. It began shipping in October. It won the Invention Award from Quid Novi in October 2010.
Originally Rocky Mountain Ventures Company, the name was changed to Couragent, Inc. in December 2010 at the first annual shareholders meeting. The name represents both Cour•Agent (Agents of heart) and Courage•nt (the first value - Courage)
